GIZ Kenya - Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking (GCF Project)
Implemented by GIZ, the Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking GCF funded project was designed to strengthen the capacity of Last Mile Distributors by offering support in areas such as capacity building, market development, mechanization, and mentorship. As one of the selected beneficiaries, Mpito Energy partnered closely with GIZ to implement this initiative in Coastal Kenya. Through this collaboration, Mpito Energy significantly contributed to expanding access to clean and efficient cooking technologies in underserved communities, aligning with the broader goal of reducing reliance on traditional biomass fuels and mitigating climate change. The project was funded by GIZ and implemented by Energy4Impact, MercyCorps.
Biolite
Mpito Energy has entered into a formal distribution agreement with Biolite, a globally recognized manufacturer of innovative clean energy products. Through this partnership, Mpito Energy is responsible for distributing Biolite’s range of high-efficiency cookstoves and solar-powered solutions across Coastal Kenya. This collaboration is helping to ensure that rural and peri-urban households have increased access to modern, reliable, and sustainable cooking alternatives that promote health, environmental conservation, and economic empowerment
UNICEF / Tony Elumelu Foundation – BeGreen Program
In 2024, Mpito Energy was selected as one of the awardees of the BeGreen Program—a collaborative initiative by UNICEF and the Tony Elumelu Foundation aimed at empowering green entrepreneurs across Africa. Through this program, Mpito Energy received both seed funding and tailored incubation support from the STEM Impact Center Kenya, enabling the company to scale its innovation in clean energy solutions. With this support, Mpito Energy enhanced its metal waste recycling operations in Taita Taveta County, transforming discarded metal materials into high-efficiency, environmentally friendly cookstoves. This partnership has not only promoted sustainable waste management practices but also increased the availability of clean cooking technologies for low-income households—contributing to improved health, reduced deforestation, and climate action in the region
